ORIGINAL ARTICLE   Musculoskeletal problems, resulting from lifting and transferring patients, are often reported among hospital orderlies worldwide. The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence and factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders in Thai hospital orderlies. This cross sectional study was conducted in a government tertiary care hospital (2,221-bed hospital) in Bangkok, Thailand. Data were collected over three months between April and May 2014.  The self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 189 hospital orderlies. Conclusions A large number (about two-thirds) of EMTs had some sort of back pain; it is highly recommended to promote the attitude and motivation of the individuals to take care to prevent back injury and inform them of the principles of back care. Implications for primary prevention and care practice include encouraging EMTs to apply accurate principles of back care. Results Data showed that while 50.7% of the participants had an average awareness of the basic principles of back care, the majority (71.8%) had at least one type of back pain. Background: To assess the status of occupational hazards and their prevention among the practicing dentists in Chandigarh city, India. Materials and Methods: A closed-ended questionnaire was prepared to record demographic status, types of occupational hazards encountered, and status of measures used for their prevention. A total 113 out of 130 dentists completed the questionnaire and the response rate was 86.9%. This report described Sarcocystis-like merozoites in peripheral blood smear of a woman with mild fever, rigor and musculoskeletal pain. Extracellular organisms with a pale blue cytoplasm and one or two nuclei were seen in her blood smear stained with Giemsa. Sarcocystis-like can be considered as a possible cause of some idiopathic febrile diseases.
