384 Use of A Dry Swab During ACL Hamstring Tendon Graft Preparation May Lead to Decreased Graft Diameter at Implantation with Subsequent Rebound in Graft Diameter When Exposed to Haemarthrosis – A Porcine Tendon Study

چکیده

Abstract Introduction ACL reconstruction surgery commonly utilises a hamstring tendon graft. Grafts are normally covered with wet swab prior to implantation. The aim of this study was determine the variance in graft diameter when comparing traditional dry swab. Method Flexor tendons from selection fresh pig trotters were isolated and prepared standard preparation technique. Half grafts swab; other half Graft diameters measured at 10-minute intervals. After 30 minutes submerged Hartmann’s solution simulate post-operative haemarthrosis, checked again after 1 hour solution. Results Use resulted 0.5mm greater reduction than group. group also showed an increase by soaked solution, not seen Conclusions Using produces smaller diameter, would allow bone tunnels, retaining stock. subsequent rebound may press fit mechanism facilitate improved integration into tunnel.

Preoperative Ultrasonography Is Unreliable in Predicting Hamstring Tendon Graft Diameter for ACL Reconstruction

Background Hamstring autograft size <8 mm has been shown to be a predictor for failure after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The ability to predict graft size preoperatively is helpful in counseling patients about the possible need for graft augmentation. Purpose To determine whether preoperative ultrasound (US) measurements of hamstring tendons can predict intraoperative gra...

Graft Preparation Technique to Optimize Hamstring Graft Diameter for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Hamstring autografts are frequently used for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The inherent variability in graft diameter has been stated as a disadvantage in its use because the presence of smaller graft diameters has been correlated with increased risk of re-rupture. Several techniques have been described to address this concern. Modifications of the basic Graftlink technique allows ...

“Quadruple hamstring tendon graft versus Bone-Patellar- Tendon-Graft for arthroscopic Anterior Cruciate Ligament

Introduction: Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear is the most common ligamentous injury to the knee joint. Two most commonly used grafts for reconstruction are Quadruple Hamstring tendons (QHT) and Bone Patellar Tendon Bone (BPTB) graft. Graft fixation techniques vary with different surgeons. Aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcome of reconstruction of ACL using QHT and BPTB gra...

Effect of Suturing of a Tendon Graft in ACL Reconstruction

cyclic loading in the early postoperative period might affect a sutured graft function. The objective of this study is to test the hypothesis that suturing of a tendon graft may affect the material properties of the corresponding tendon site, due to local changes in tendon matrix composition. Several digital flexor tendons were armed with a whipstitch and examined under tension or cyclic loadin...
