Adsorption of Methylene Blue on Chestnut Shell-Based Activated Carbon: Calculation of Thermodynamic Parameters for Solid–Liquid Interface Adsorption

Chestnut shell-based activated carbon was prepared with chestnut shell as the raw material and ZnCl2 activating agent. Based on thermodynamic parameters, adsorption behavior of methylene blue (MB) studied, effect temperature parameters investigated. The Langmuir equilibrium constant (KL) standard (K0) were used to calculate respectively. Comparative analysis showed that spontaneous (ΔG0 < 0) more compatible (K0). Furthermore, at 30, 40 50 °C measured, potential investigated calculated. Eventually, mechanism process determined. It concluded mainly involved chemical adsorption, which indicated MB caused by force bond.
