Cavity mode emission in weakly coupled quantum dot--cavity systems.
We study the origin of bright leaky-cavity mode emission and its influence on photon statistics in weakly coupled quantum dot - semiconductor cavity systems, which consist of a planar photonic-crystal and several quantum dots. We present experimental measurements that show that when the system is excited above the barrier energy, then bright cavity mode emissions with nonzero detuning are domin...
متن کاملCalculation, normalization, and perturbation of quasinormal modes in coupled cavity-waveguide systems.
We show how one can use a nonlocal boundary condition, which is compatible with standard frequency domain methods, for numerical calculation of quasinormal modes in optical cavities coupled to waveguides. In addition, we extend the definition of the quasinormal mode norm by use of the theory of divergent series to provide a framework for modeling of optical phenomena in such coupled cavity-wave...
متن کاملEffective Theories of Coupled Classical and Quantum Variables
We address the issue of coupling variables which are essentially classical to variables that are quantum. Two approaches are discussed. In the first (based on collaborative work with L.Diósi), continuous quantum measurement theory is used to construct a phenomenological description of the interaction of a quasiclassical variable X with a quantum variable x, where the quasiclassical nature of X ...
متن کاملDispersing quasinormal modes in 2+1 dimensional conformal field theories
Abstract We study the charge response of conformal field theories (CFTs) at non-zero temperature in 2+1 dimensions using the AdS/CFT correspondence. A central role is played by the quasinormal modes (QNMs), specifically, the poles and zeros of the current correlators. We generalize our recent study of the QNMs of the a.c. charge conductivity to include momentum dependence. This sheds light on t...
متن کاملMode coupling and cavity–quantum-dot interactions in a fiber-coupled microdisk cavity
A quantum master equation model for the interaction between a two-level system and whispering-gallery modes WGMs of a microdisk cavity is presented, with specific attention paid to current experiments involving a semiconductor quantum dot QD embedded in a fiber-coupled AlxGa1−xAs microdisk cavity. In standard single mode cavity QED, three important rates characterize the system: the QD-cavity c...
