چکیده
The search for more efficient methods degassing aluminum alloy melts has always been of great interest the metal industry because presence hydrogen and oxides in melts’ prior casting was detrimental to integrity properties final products. In this work, we present an overview progress key findings from research development innovative High Shear Melt Conditioning (HSMC) technology during Liquid Metal Engineering (LiME) Research Hub project. Compared conventional rotary degassing, novel technique capable working at higher rotor speeds efficiently break disperse naturally occurring oxide bifilms melt capture each supplied inert gas bubble into many tiny bubbles throughout whole melt. This resulted elimination need degas fluxes remove melt, reduction flow required reach same level removal rate, minimization regassing effect after processing. increased process efficiency allowed reduced processing costs and, time, improved quality, which fewer defects mechanical properties.

Dynamic Shear Behaviour of Unweldable Aluminum-Scandium (Al-Sc) Alloy
This study uses a torsional split-Hopkinson bar to investigate the shear response and fracture characteristics of unweldable Al-Sc alloy during mechanical testing at shear strain rates of 800 s , 1500 s , 2200 s 1 and 2800 s 1 and temperatures of 150 C, 25 C and 300 C. The experimental results show that both the shear strain rate and the temperature have a significant effect on the shear proper...
متن کاملAcoustic Characteristics of Fatigued Aluminum Alloy Using Ultrasonic Shear Waves
Cyclic-tension fatigue of aluminum alloy, Al-4Cu-1Mg, was determined by an analysis of diffracted SH and SV waves, passing through the surface and reflecting the bottom of the specimen, respectively. The internal friction of SV waves begins to increase from fatigue damage ratio(=N/Nf) of 0.5. This suggests increase of movable dislocation. From the analysis of SH waves, the logarithmic damping r...
متن کاملCast Aluminum Alloy for High Temperature Applications
Originally developed by NASA as high performance piston alloys to meet U.S. automotive legislation requiring low exhaust emission, the novel NASA alloys now offer dramatic increase in tensile strength for many other applications at elevated temperatures from 450°F (232°C) to about 750°F (400°C). It is an ideal low cost material for cast automotive components such as pistons, cylinder heads, cyl...

متن کاملOperant Conditioning: An Overview
Classical, or Pavlovian, conditioning is a process by which new emotional and glandular reactions develop in response to previously neutral stimuli in the environment. But classical conditioning doesn't explain how we develop new skills or behaviors instrumental in changing our external environments. That learning process involves what is typically referred to as instrumental, or operant, condi...
