چکیده
This study investigated the effects of krill and squid meal their heat processing on growth performance biochemical composition juvenile Pacific bluefin tuna (PBT) Thunnus orientalis. An experiment using a 2 × factorial design examined two dietary protein sources (squid meal) treatment (heated non-heated). Prey fish were provided to reference group. Fish with an initial mean weight 74.1 mg fed one five diets. After six days feeding trial, non-heated diets showed improved compared those heated significantly higher whole-body crude lipid contents than These results suggest that nutrient availability could be by improve PBT.

Temperature effects on metabolic rate of juvenile Pacific bluefin tuna Thunnus orientalis.
Pacific bluefin tuna inhabit a wide range of thermal environments across the Pacific ocean. To examine how metabolism varies across this thermal range, we studied the effect of ambient water temperature on metabolic rate of juvenile Pacific bluefin tuna, Thunnus thynnus, swimming in a swim tunnel. Rate of oxygen consumption (MO2) was measured at ambient temperatures of 8-25 degrees C and swimmi...
متن کاملPostprandial metabolism of Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis).
Specific dynamic action (SDA) is defined as the energy expended during ingestion, digestion, absorption and assimilation of a meal. This study presents the first data on the SDA response of individual tunas of any species. Juvenile Pacific bluefin tunas (Thunnus orientalis; body mass 9.7-11.0 kg; N=7) were individually fed known quantities of food consisting primarily of squid and sardine (meal...

متن کاملGenetic heterogeneity of betanodaviruses in juvenile production trials of Pacific bluefin tuna, Thunnus orientalis (Temminck & Schlegel).
Pacific bluefin tuna, Thunnus orientalis (Temminck & Schlegel), is one of the most important commercially exploited fish species in the world, and juvenile production techniques have been developed for its culture and stock enhancement in Japan. However, recent juvenile production has often failed because of the occurrence of viral nervous necrosis caused by betanodaviruses. In this study, we e...
متن کاملQuantifying energy intake in Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis) using the heat increment of feeding.
Using implanted archival tags, we examined the effects of meal caloric value, food type (sardine or squid) and ambient temperature on the magnitude and duration of the heat increment of feeding in three captive juvenile Pacific bluefin tuna. The objective of our study was to develop a model that can be used to estimate energy intake in wild fish of similar body mass. Both the magnitude and dura...
