Sleep can reduce proactive interference.
Sleep has repeatedly been connected to processes of memory consolidation. While extensive research indeed documents beneficial effects of sleep on memory, little is yet known about the role of sleep for interference effects in episodic memory. Although two prior studies reported sleep to reduce retroactive interference, no sleep effect has previously been found for proactive interference. Here ...
متن کاملLow-cost interference lithography
The authors report demonstration of a low-cost 1000 USD interference lithography system based on a Lloyd’s mirror interferometer that is capable of 300 nm pitch patterning. The components include only a 405 nm GaN diode-laser module, a machinist’s block, a chrome-coated silicon mirror, substrate, and double-sided carbon scanning electron microscopy SEM tape. The laser and the machinist’s block ...
متن کاملCharacterization of pUO-StVR2, a virulence-resistance plasmid evolved from the pSLT virulence plasmid of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium.
pUO-StVR2 is a virulence-resistance plasmid which originated from pSLT of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium through acquisition of a complex resistance island, flanked by regions that provide a toxin-antitoxin system and an iron uptake system. The presence of resistance and virulence determinants on the same plasmid allows coselection of both properties, potentially increasing health risks.
متن کاملInterference and interactions inmesoscopic rings
We consider a mesoscopic ring connected to external reservoirs by tunnel junctions. The ring is capacitively coupled to an external gate electrode and may be pierced by a magnetic eld. Due to strong electron–electron interactions within the ring the conductance shows Coulomb blockade oscillations as a function of the gate voltage, while Aharonov–Bohm interference e ects lead to a dependence on ...
متن کاملPlasmid interference for curing antibiotic resistance plasmids in vivo
Antibiotic resistance increases the likelihood of death from infection by common pathogens such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in developed and developing countries alike. Most important modern antibiotic resistance genes spread between such species on self-transmissible (conjugative) plasmids. These plasmids are traditionally grouped on the basis of replicon incompatibility (Inc...
