Genetic studies on false smut disease resistance and yield components in rice (Oryza sativa. L)

The present investigation was performed to explain the genetic variability and association parameters of twenty traits in 30 F1s involving six parents differing resistance against false smut rice. Breeding materials were evaluated at hotspot location viz., HREC, Gudalur. ANOVA revealed significant differences among studied variables. Higher PCV over other coefficients variation suggest role environment trait expression. Disease related NIP, NIT, NIGPa, PIT, PIGPa agronomic TNFPa, NCGPa, SSP, PH, HGW SPY showed high magnitude values for GCV, heritability GAM indicating additive gene action. Hence, selection these may be effective.  Correlation studies indicated that SPW positive with . Path analysis NIGP PIP had negative direct effect DFF, NPT, NSRPa towards single plant yield.
