چکیده
Abstract In this study, global reanalysis dataset fields of meteorological parameters (temperature and geopotential height at different atmospheric levels) in the period 1948–2020, were used to characterize main dynamic thermodynamic features African dust outbreaks (ADO) produced over regions Iberian Peninsula Balearic Islands. The record ADO previously identified with a tried-and-true procedure 8 areas domain 2001–2020 data sets load contributions estimated for all days each region, check our results. Thus, we demonstrated that air masses origin significant increase levels certain variables (geopotential thickness 1000–500 hPa layer (GT), mean potential temperature between 925 700 (TPOT), anomalies 850 (TANOM)) especially when particular synoptic-scale circulation types (CT) occurred. Moreover, higher three resulted events regional background PM 10 regions. Finally, obtained statistically upward trend under CT their associated daily values GT, TPOT TANOM from 1948 2020. These results point an frequency mass transport North Africa western Mediterranean basin on intensity as consequence transport, 1948–2020.

A long Saharan dust event over the western Mediterranean: Lidar, Sun photometer observations, and regional dust modeling
[1] A long Saharan dust event affected the western Mediterranean in the period 12– 28 June 2002. Dust was present mainly between 1and 5-km height affecting most parts of the Iberian Peninsula and reaching western/central Europe. Intensive backscatter lidar observations over Barcelona (Spain) and Sun photometer data from two stations (El Arenosillo, Spain, and Avignon, France) are used to evalua...
متن کاملPredominant transport paths of Saharan dust over the Mediterranean Sea to Europe
We use monthly data of aerosol optical thickness (AOT) from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the 7 NASA Terra and Aqua satellites for the ten-year period (2001 -2010) in order to determine seasonal variations of Saharan dust transport over the Mediterranean towards Europe. The maxima of AOT are used to visualize the transport paths. Saharan dust reaches Europe ...

This study has used TOMS AI as well as the reanalysis dataset of thirty-four years (1979-2012) to investigate the influence of atmospheric circulation on dust transport during the Harmattan period in West Africa, using Aerosol Index (AI) data, obtained from various satellite sensors. Changes in Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD), Sea Surface Temperature (SST) over the Gulf of Guinea, and North ...
متن کاملThe Transport of Mineral Dust Towards Hurricane
West African dust aerosol plumes are the most wide spread, persistent and dense [31]. The processes which are responsible for the dust uplift are highly variable in time and space with an annual peak during summer [10, 31]. Mineral dust particles affect the atmospheric radiation budget directly (e.g. [14, 42]) and indirectly (e.g. [16]). The indirect aerosol affect and the scattering of solar r...
