New Orbit Determination Method for GEO Satellites Based on BeiDou Short-Message Communication Ranging

The radio determination service system (RDSS), a navigation and positioning independently developed by China, features services such as short-message communication, position reporting, international search rescue. L-band pseudo-range phase data are the primary sources in precise orbit (POD) for geostationary Earth (GEO) satellite BeiDou system, especially manoeuvre period. These only POD GEOs. However, when is abnormal due to unforeseen reasons, hardware failure or monitoring receiver abnormalities, abnormality leads abnormalities even failures GEOs, then performance availability of RDSS greatly degraded. Therefore, new method GEOs based on communication ranging has gained research attention improve reliability (BDS)-3, realising deep integration BDS. This problem not been addressed so far. this study, GEO satellites investigated using high-precision laser (SLR) data. SLR used benchmark calibrate time delay value equipment, process fixing corrected value, parameters dynamic solved. Experimental analysis conducted measured BDS, accuracy paper evaluated ephemeris Multi-GNSS pilot project (MGEX) results show that orbital arc 2-h prediction 6.01 m 6.99 m, respectively, compared with MGEX, short-arc after 4 h manoeuvring 11.11 m. radial component 0.54 required BDS-3 15 achieved superior technical index. expands application field enriches It can be adopted backup technology RNSS data, significantly improving service.
