A Classical Bound on Quantum Entropy

A classical upper bound for quantum entropy is identified and illustrated, 0 ≤ Sq ≤ ln(eσ2/ 2~), involving the variance σ2 in phase space of the classical limit distribution of a given system. A fortiori, this further bounds the corresponding information-theoretical generalizations of the quantum entropy proposed by Rényi.

Quantum Conditional Logical Entropy of Dynamical Systems

In this paper, we will define the notion of conditional logical entropy of dynamical systems on a quantum logic. We will prove some of its properties. The relation between this measure and the notion of logical entropy of quantum dynamical systems which was defined in my paper (Open Physics, 14:1-5, 2016), will be presented.

Entropy in Classical and Quantum Information Theory

Entropy is a central concept in both classical and quantum information theory, measuring the uncertainty and the information content in the state of a physical system. This paper reviews classical information theory and then proceeds to generalizations into quantum information theory. Both Shannon and Von Neumann entropy are discussed, making the connection to compressibility of a message strea...

Limits on classical communication from quantum entropy power inequalities

Almost all modern communication systems rely on electromagnetic fields as a means of information transmission, and finding the capacities of these systems is a problem of significant practical importance. The Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel is often a good approximate description of such systems, and its capacity is given by a simple formula. However, when quantum effects are impor...

Intrinsic mechanism for entropy change in classical and quantum evolution.

It is shown that the existence of a time operator in the Liouville space representation of both classical and quantum evolution provides a mechanism for effective entropy change of physical states. In particular, an initially effectively pure state can evolve under the usual unitary evolution to an effectively mixed state.
