P-014 RISK FACTORS FOR SHORT- AND LONG-TERM COMPLICATIONS FOLLOWING VENTRAL HERNIA REPAIR WITH THE PERITONEAL FLAP TECHNIQUE

Abstract Aim The peritoneal flap technique has been introduced for the repair of complex abdominal wall defects. present study was conducted to determine association between preoperative risk factors and incidence short long-term complications. Material & Methods Patients undergoing January 2010 September 2020 were included in study. Patient files retrospectively reviewed presence risk-factors postoperative complications recorded. A multivariable logistic regression analysis used estimate odds ratio (OR) Results 327 patients included. 48.0% male. Median body mass index(BMI) 30.9, 13.8% had diabetes 23.2% active smokers. defect size 8 cm2 median mesh 667.5 cm2. length hospital stay 5 days. 13.1% developed a superficial wound infection, 10.4% seroma 1.2% skin necrosis. Chronic pain observed 4.6% recurrence 2.4%. demonstrated stepwise increase OR This increased by 10% per unit BMI (P<0.01). Smoking hernial contributed only minor extent Conclusion method is safe procedure associated with low recurrence. whereas smoking contributes extent.
