Selective Methanol Oxidation to Green Oxygenates—Catalyst Screening, Reaction Kinetics and Performance in Fixed-Bed and Membrane Reactors

Experimental and simulation-based investigations are carried out for the selective oxidation of green methanol to oxygenates dimethoxymethane (DMM) methyl formate (MF), including an initial catalyst screening, derivation a reaction kinetic model, feasibility study fixed-bed membrane reactor with oxygen distribution. The screening different supports loading vanadium revealed 6.6 wt.-% VOx/TiO2 offering highest potential formation target products. Kinetic experiments performed in broad range operation conditions, e.g., residence time, temperature, concentration, used postulation network, providing basis mathematical modeling individual five rates reduced mechanistic approach. A simulation based on derived kinetics parameters high distributed dosing at times, outperforming conventional by up 6% yield DMM 19% MF. is favored low temperatures, whereas MF supported temperatures.
