Terminal Ediacaran microbialite lithofacies associations with paleo-environmental constraints in a high-frequency sequence stratigraphic framework of Sichuan Basin, SW China

چکیده

The terminal Ediacaran shallow marine microbialites are significant for paleo-environment reconstruction and petroleum exploration. Their depositional paleo-environmental characteristics during high-frequency sea-level fluctuations were paid less attention, which limited the understanding of their evolution related reservoir characterization. Microbialites from fourth member upper Dengying Formation, Gaoshiti-Moxi area, Sichuan Basin, SW China important records studying lithofacies associations constraints in sequences. Petrographic geochemical analyses ( in-situ major trace elements carbon oxygen isotopes) indicate on a rimmed platform within fourth-order sequence. From late TST (transgressive systems tract) to early HST (highstand tract), thick-bedded dark-grey dolomudstone-thin-bedded spotted thrombolite dominates margin; while dolomudstone-thin bedded wavy stromatolite interior. next sequence, margin is dominated by thrombolite—dolograinstone, carbonate interior thin-medium-bedded layered thrombolite—light-grey stromatolite. Salinity correlates well with microbialite associations: enriched characterized higher salinity than that associations. constrained redox: slightly more reduced redox analysis also indicates low levels study area Ediacaran, possible oxygenation at Ediacaran-Cambrian boundary. suggests development was controlled both factors such as redox. Platform thrombolitic reefs serve favorable reservoirs. thrombolites stromatolites regarded potential reservoirs, deserve detailed depositional-paleo-environmental research.

Determination of Time of Oil Cracking into Gas in Weiyuan Paleo-Oil Pool in Sichuan Basin, South China

Weiyuan gas field, located in the Sichuan basin of south China, is a large marine gas field with the oldest reservoir (the Sinian sequences) in south China. The hydrocarbon origin of the gas field has long been debated by petroleum geologists. Recently, it was recognized that a paleo-oil pool maybe the significant contributor to the gas field. Consequently, when the paleo-oil pool had been crac...

Comparison of Three Key Marine Shale Reservoirs in the Southeastern Margin of the Sichuan Basin, SW China

This study performs a comprehensive comparison of three key marine shale reservoirs in the southeastern margin of the Sichuan Basin, and explains why commercial gas production was only achieved in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi (LSL) and Upper Ordovician Wufeng (UOW) formations, but not in the Lower Cambrian Niutitang (LCN) formation. The experimental methods included in situ gas content and gas c...

Analysis of river sediments in the paleo- Meyghan basin

Introduction The territory of central Iran is now affected by the hot and dry climate. But, several evidences, such as the extreme erosion of running waters, huge alluvial fans, wide alluvial terraces, and flood deposits indicate colder and wetter climate in the territory (Ghahroodi Tali, 2011: 3). The rivers belong to the most important parts of the sedimentary basin. In fact, the rivers are...
