چکیده

conclusions coq10 abolished neuropathic pain in cci rats. prevention of cell loss might be attributed to the analgesic effect of coq10. hence, it might be used as a therapeutic intervention for neuropathic pain. background oxidative stress contributes to neuropathic pain. coenzyme q10 (coq10) is used for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. however, there is no report regarding the therapeutic effect of coq10 on neuropathic pain. objectives the present study investigated the effects of coq10 on pain alleviation in animals with chronic constriction injury (cci) of the sciatic nerve. materials and methods wistar male rats were randomly allocated to four groups. nerve injury was induced by four loose ligatures around the sciatic nerve. coq10 (200 mg/kg) or vehicle were daily injected intraperitoneally for 10 days. behavioral tests were performed before nerve injury and on fifth and tenth days after injury. radiant heat, randall selitto test, and von frey filaments were used to assess the pain threshold. at the end of the experiment, the animals were perfused transcardially. lumbar spinal cord was removed and prepared for nissl staining. analysis of variance (anova) and mann-whitney were used for statistical analysis. p-value below 0.05 was considered statistically significant. results reduction in pain threshold and the number of neurons in dorsal horn of the spinal cord after nerve injury (p ≤ 0.001) were resulted. injection of coq10 and vehicles increased the pain threshold (p ≤ 0.001 and p ≤ 0.01) and prevented cell loss in neuropathic rats compared with injured animals with no treatment (p < 0.05). significant differences observed between animals that had received coq10 compared with vehicle treated ones (p < 0.05).

Introduction: Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that has the ability to reduce the damage caused by oxidative stress and is predominantly found in the inner mitochondrial membrane. This study was conducted to determine the effect of coenzyme Q10 on neuropathic pain in an animal model of spinal cord injury. Methods: In order to induce neuropathic pain, thoracic segments of the spinal cor...

Objective(s): Neuropathic pain is a prevalent and debilitating neurological disorder. Ample evidence indicates that microglial cells and inflammatory cytokines are involved in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain. Alpha-terpineol is a monoterpenoid alcohol with inhibitory effect on inflammatory cytokines. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of α-t...

Despite extensive investigations, the main mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain development are still not fully understood and there is no effective treatment for that. So intensive research is being done for finding new, efficient analgesic drugs. 56 male Wistar rats (230±30) were divided into 7 groups (n=8); control, sham, CCI and 3 Umbelliprenin groups (25, 50 and 100 microgram/rat)...

Introduction: Peripheral and central nerve injuries cause chronic neuropathic pain in many injured people besides motor disability. Exercise, as a behavioral and non-pharmacological treatment, has beneficial effects on people’s general health both for healthy and sick people. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the effects of exercise on neuropathic pain induced by chronic cons...

Background: Fatigue is a common side effect in cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy (RT). Radiation-induced fatigue affects the quality of life, but there is no definitive treatment option. In this study, the weight-loaded forced swim test was performed to assess the effect of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) on radiation-induced fatigue. Materials and Methods: A total of 60 rats were divided rando...
