What is special about diffusion on scale-free nets?

چکیده
We study diffusion (random walks) on recursive scale-free graphs and contrast the results to similar studies in other analytically soluble media. This allows us to identify ways in which diffusion in scale-free graphs is special. Most notably, scale-free architecture results in a faster transit time between existing nodes when the network grows in size; and walks emanating from the most connected nodes are recurrent, despite the network’s infinite dimension. We also find that other attributes of the graph, besides its scale-free distribution, have a strong influence on the nature of diffusion. 3 Author to whom all correspondence should be addressed. Diffusion of Innovation in Mental Health Policy Adoption: What Should We Ask about the Quality of Policy and the Role of Stakeholders in this Process?; Comment on “Cross-National Diffusion of Mental Health Policy”
In his recent study, Gordon Shen analyses a pertinent question facing the global mental health research and practice community today; that of how and why mental health policy is or is not adopted by national governments. This study identifies becoming a World Health Organization (WHO) member nation, and being in regional proximity to countries which have adopted a mental health policy as suppor...
متن کاملFractal and transfractal recursive scale-free nets
We explore the concepts of self-similarity, dimensionality, and (multi)scaling in a new family of recursive scale-free nets that yield themselves to exact analysis through renormalization techniques. All nets in this family are self-similar and some are fractals—possessing a finite fractal dimension—while others are small-world (their diameter grows logarithmically with their size) and are infi...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Free Vibration Analysis of a Transversely Isotropic Thermoelastic Diffusive Cylindrical Panel
The present paper is aimed to study an exact analysis of the free vibrations of a simply supported, homogeneous, transversely isotropic, cylindrical panel based on three-dimensional generalized theories of thermoelastic diffusion. After applying the displacement potential functions in the basic governing equations of generalized thermoelastic diffusion, it is noticed that a purely transverse mo...
متن کاملPrediction of Service Life in Concrete Structures based on Diffusion Model in a Marine Environment using Mesh Free, FEM and FDM Approaches
Chloride-induced corrosion is a key factor in the premature corrosion of concrete structures exposed to a marine environment. Fick's second law of diffusion is the dominant equation to model diffusion of chloride ions. This equation is traditionally solved by Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Method (FDM). Although these methods are robust and efficient, they may face some numer...
متن کاملWave Propagation in Micropolar Thermoelastic Diffusion Medium
The present investigation is concerned with the reflection of plane waves from a free surface of a micropolar thermoelastic diffusion half space in the context of coupled theory of thermoelastic diffusion. The amplitude ratios of various reflected waves are obtained in a closed form. The dependence of these amplitude ratios with an angle of propagation as well as other material parameter are sh...
