I may tell you at the outset that I have nothing fresh to communicate, but I have marshalled, at some trouble, a formidable array of figures which cannot fail to convince the most callous that it is our duty to use all our endeavours to protect the mothers of England and Wales, about 4,000 of whom annually die in childbed. Puerperal Mortality naturally divides itself into:? (a) Deaths from Puerperal Fever. (b) Deaths from what is termed " the accidents of childbirth."
