Person re-ID while Crossing Different Cameras: Combination of Salient-Gaussian Weighted BossaNova and Fisher Vector Encodings

چکیده
Person re-identification (re-ID) is a challenging task in the camera surveillance field, since it addresses the problem of re-identifying people across multiple non-overlapping cameras. Most of existing approaches have been concentrated on: 1) achieving a robust and effective feature representation; and 2) enforcing discriminative metric learning to predict if two images represent the same identity. In this context, we present a new approach for person re-ID built upon multi-level descriptors. This is achieved by combining three complementary representations: salient-Gaussian Fisher Vector (SGFV) encoding method, salient-Gaussian BossaNova (SGBN) histogram encoding method and deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) features. The two first methods adapt the histogram encoding framework to the person re-ID task. This is achieved by integrating the pedestrian saliency map and the spatial location information, in the histogram encoding process. On one hand, human saliency is reliable and distinctive in the person re-ID task, since it can model the uniqueness of the identity. On the other hand, localizing a person in the image can effectively discard noisy background information. Finally, one of the most advanced metric learning in person re-ID: the Cross-view Quadratic Discriminant Analysis (XQDA) is applied on the top of the resulting description. The proposed method yields promising person re-ID results on two challenging image-based person re-ID benchmarks: CUHK03 and Market-1501. Multi-Shot Human Re-Identification Using Adaptive Fisher Discriminant Analysis
Human re-identification (re-id) in surveillance videos has been widely studied over the past few years. The research effort was mainly focused on building appearance models [1, 3] and learning a suitable metric to determine whether or not an image pair belongs to the same person[5, 8]. In terms of the available number of images per person in each camera view, the re-id problem can be categorize...
متن کاملOne-pass Person Re-identification by Sketch Online Discriminant Analysis
Person re-identification (re-id) is to match people across disjoint camera views in a multi-camera system, and re-id has been an important technology applied in smart city in recent years. However, the majority of existing person re-id methods are not designed for processing sequential data in an online way. This ignores the real-world scenario that person images detected from multi-cameras sys...
متن کاملFeatures for Multi-Target Multi-Camera Tracking and Re-Identification
Multi-Target Multi-Camera Tracking (MTMCT) tracks many people through video taken from several cameras. Person Re-Identification (Re-ID) retrieves from a gallery images of people similar to a person query image. We learn good features for both MTMCT and Re-ID with a convolutional neural network. Our contributions include an adaptive weighted triplet loss for training and a new technique for har...
متن کاملPooling in image representation: The visual codeword point of view
In this work, we propose BossaNova, a novel representation for contentbased concept detection in images and videos, which enriches the Bag-of-Words model. Relying on the quantization of highly discriminant local descriptors by a codebook, and the aggregation of those quantized descriptors into a single pooled feature vector, the Bag-of-Words model has emerged as the most promising approach for ...
متن کاملPerson Re-id in Appearance Impaired Scenarios
Figure 1: (a) Examples of persons wearing black suits; (b) Examples of images of the same person but wearing different clothing. Person re-identification is critical in surveillance applications. Current approaches rely on appearance-based features extracted from a single or multiple shots of the target and candidate matches. These approaches are at a disadvantage when trying to distinguish bet...
