چکیده

The lipid changes in the inheritable foam cell reticulosis of mice discovered by Lyons, Hulse, and Rowe have been reexamined. The major abnormality in thymuses from homozygous-abnormal animals has been identified as an increase in the concentration (per milligram of protein) of sphingomyelin and cholesterol. This increase is associated with normal sphingomyelin-cleaving activity. The lipid compositions of the liver and spleen in the homozygousabnormal animal and of the thymus in the heterozygousabnormal mouse are normal. The disorder appears to be chemically analogous to those forms of human sphingomyelin lipidosis (Niemann-Pick disease) that are not accompanied by a decrrase in tissue sphingomyelinase. IGF-1 induces rat glomerular mesangial cells to accumulate triglyceride.

Rat glomerular mesangial cells (MC) become lipid-laden foam cells when they are exposed to IGF-1. IGF-1 increased accumulation of triglyceride (TG) 2.5-fold in MC after 7 days. TG accumulation resulted from enhanced macropinocytosis and decreased efflux secondary to a 40-50% reduction in peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-delta (PPARdelta). There was no evidence of primary or sec...

نقش اسید ایکوزاپنتاانوئیک(EPA) بر بیان ژن گیرنده آلفای فعال‌شده در پروکسیزوم‌های در حال تکثیر (PPAR)

Introduction: Defect in the cholesterol homeostasis in macrophage as well as converting them to foam cells is one of the most important factors in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. Many genes and transcription factors like Peroxisome Proliferators Activated Receptors are involved in cholesterol homeostasis in these cells. N-3 fatty acids are one of the most important factors re...

Ginsenoside Rb1 Enhances Atherosclerotic Plaque Stability by Improving Autophagy and Lipid Metabolism in Macrophage Foam Cells

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a lipid-driven disease in which macrophage foam cells play a critical role by increasing vascular lipid accumulation and contributing to plaque instability. Ginsenoside Rb1 (Rb1), the most abundant active component of ginseng, has been found potently to promote lipid metabolism and attenuate lipid accumulation. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this s...
