چکیده

This paper describes a Diversification-Driven Tabu Search (D2TS) algorithm for solving unconstrained binary quadratic problems. D2TS is distinguished by the introduction of a perturbation-based diversification strategy guided by longterm memory. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed on the largest instances from theORLIB library (up to 2500 variables) as well as still larger instances from the literature (up to 7000 variables). The computational results show that D2TS is highly competitive in terms of both solution quality and computational efficiency relative to some of the best performing heuristics in the literature.

Neighborhood Combination for Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Problems

We present an experimental analysis of neighborhood combinations for local search based metaheuristic algorithms, using the Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Programming (UBQP) problem as a case study. The goal of the analysis is to help understand why, when and how some neighborhoods can be favorably combined to increase their search power. Our study investigates combined neighborhoods with two t...

Fast 2-flip move evaluations for binary unconstrained quadratic optimization problems

We provide a method for efficiently evaluating 2-flip moves that simultaneously change the values of two 0-1 variables in search methods for binary unconstrained quadratic optimization problems (UQP). We extend a framework recently proposed by the authors for creating efficient evaluations of 1-flip moves to yield a method requiring significantly less computation time than a direct sequential a...

Graphcuts for General Quadratic Binary Problems

We propose a novel approach to optimizing unconstrained quadratic binary problems (QBP) and binary MRFs based on discrete, submodular majorization of the original problem that can be solved efficiently using graph cuts. This yields an efficient algorithm that is appropriate for quickly finding a good solution to general Quadratic Binary Problems. It first solves a majorizing function exactly to...

A hybrid metaheuristic for multiobjective unconstrained binary quadratic programming

The conventional Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Programming (UBQP) problem is known to be a unified modeling and solution framework for many combinatorial optimization problems. This paper extends the single-objective UBQP to the multiobjective case (mUBQP) where multiple objectives are to be optimized simultaneously. We propose a hybrid metaheuristic which combines an elitist evolutionary mult...
