چکیده

Classic data envelopment analysis (DEA) models determine the efficiency of productive units, called decision making units (DMUs). DEA uses as its methodology the equiproportional reduction of inputs or increase of outputs and the finding of a single target for each DMU. This target does not incorporate the preference of the decision maker. Later works propose obtaining alternative targets based on nonradial projections on the efficiency frontier that are obtained through nonproportional variations of inputs or outputs. However, the efficiencies are not calculated for these alternative targets. This impedes a comparison among the DMUs. Thus, diverse nonradial efficiency indexes have been proposed based on mathematical averages or weighted averages that do not consider the vectorial characteristics of the efficiency. In this work, we present a nonradial efficiency index based on the initial concept of efficiency associated with each alternative (nonradial) target obtained through a multiobjective model of an inefficient DMU.

Modified Super Efficiency in Presence of Infeasibility: A Nonradial Approach

As regards of supper efficiency models which increased the discrimination power of the standard DEA models, still infeasibility may occure. In literature there exists some models overcome this difficulty. In this paper a new procedure has been mooted in order to remove this shortcoming in a way that both input savings and output surplus are being considered. This procedure deals with nonradial ...

Applying an Efficiency Measure of Desirable and Undesirable Outputs in DEA to U.S. Electric Utilities

The measure proposed in this paper is a new nonparametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) scheme, the hybrid measure, for determining efficiency in the presence of radial and nonradial inputs or outputs. Further extension of the scheme occurred to address nonseparable desirable and undesirable outputs. Applying the model to measure the overall efficiency of U.S. electric utilities in the presen...

A Combined Data Envelopment Analysis and Support Vector Regression for Efficiency Evaluation of Large Decision Making Units

Abstract Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a method for measuring efficiencies of Decision Making Units (DMUs). While it has been widely used in many industrial and economic applications, for large DMUs with many inputs and outputs, DEA would require huge computer resources in terms of memory and CPU time. Several studies have attempted to overcome this problem for large datasets. However, the...
