چکیده

The purpose of this article is to provide a survey of the various stages in the development of response surface methodology (RSM). The coverage of these stages is organized in three parts that describe the evolution of RSM since its introduction in the early 1950s. Part I covers the period, 1951–1975, during which the so-called classical RSM was developed. This includes a review of basic experimental designs for fitting linear response surface models, in addition to a description of methods for the determination of optimum operating conditions. Part II, which covers the period, 1976–1999, discusses more recent modeling techniques in RSM, in addition to a coverage of Taguchi’s robust parameter design and its response surface alternative approach. Part III provides a coverage of further extensions and research directions in modern RSM. This includes discussions concerning response surface models with random effects, generalized linear models, and graphical techniques for comparing response surface designs.  2010 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Optimisation of wire-cut EDM process parameter by Grey-based response surface methodology

Wire electric discharge machining (WEDM) is one of the advanced machining processes. Response surface methodology coupled with Grey relation analysis method has been proposed and used to optimise the machining parameters of WEDM. A face centred cubic design is used for conducting experiments on high speed steel (HSS) M2 grade workpiece material. The regression model of significant factors such ...

Synthesis of nano-structured sphene and mechanical properties optimization of its scaffold via response surface methodology

Nano-structured sphene (CaTiSiO5) powder was synthesized via mechanical activation and heat treatment method. The synthesized powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and simultaneous thermal analysis (STA). The sphene scaffolds were then fabricated via porogen method (using citric acid). Response surface methodology was successfully used to d...

Statistical Analysis and Optimization of Factors Affecting the Surface Roughness in UVaSPIF Process Using Response Surface Methodology

Ultrasonic vibration assisted single point incremental forming (UVaSPIF) is based on localized plastic deformation in a sheet metal blank. It consists to deform gradually and locally the sheet metal using vibrating hemispherical-head tool controlled by a CNC milling machine. The ultrasonic excitation of forming tool reduces the vertical component of forming force. In addition, application of ul...
