چکیده

Textile industry can be classified into three categories viz., cotton, woolen, and synthetic fibers depending upon the used raw materials. The cotton textile industry is one of the oldest industries in China. The textile dyeing industry consumes large quantities of water and produces large volumes of wastewater from different steps in the dyeing and finishing processes. Wastewater from printing and dyeing units is often rich in color, containing residues of reactive dyes and chemicals, such as complex components, many aerosols, high chroma, high COD and BOD concentration as well as much more hard-degradation materials. The toxic effects of dyestuffs and other organic compounds, as well as acidic and alkaline contaminants, from industrial establishments on the general public are widely accepted. At present, the dyes are mainly aromatic and heterocyclic compounds, with color-display groups and polar groups. The structure is more complicated and stable, resulting in greater difficulty to degrade the printing and dyeing wastewater (Shaolan Ding et al.,2010). According to recent statistics, China's annual sewage has already reached 390 million tons, including 51% of industrial sewage, and it has been increasing with the rate of 1% every year. Each year about 70 billion tons of wastewater from textile and dyeing industry are produced and requires proper treatment before being released into the environment (State Environmental Protection Administration ,1994). Therefore, understanding and developing effective printing-dye industrial wastewater treatment technology is environmentally important.

Adsorption Characteristics of Steel Scrap used as Heterogeneous Catalyst in Fenton Process in Textile Dyeing Wastewater Treatment

This paper evaluates the treatment of textile dyeing wastewater by using steel scrap as adsorbents and heterogeneous catalysts for Modified Fenton oxidation. The efficiency of the process was explored as a function of the experimental parameters: pH, hydrogen peroxide concentration and Steel scrap content. The composites with high steel scrap content were effective to adsorb colour and COD in t...

IAEA-CN-115-50 Electron Beam Treatment Plant for Textile Dyeing Wastewater

Abstract. A pilot plant for treating 1,000m of textile dyeing wastewater per day with electron beam has constructed and operated continuously in Daegu, Korea since 1998. This plant is combined with biological treatment system and it shows the reduction of chemical reagent consumption, and also the reduction in retention time with the increase in removal efficiencies of CODCr and BOD5 up to 30~4...

Decolourisation of textile dyeing Wastewater by modified solar Photo-Fenton Oxidation

In a laboratory study, decolourisation of real textile dyeing wastewater by modified solar photo-Fenton (Steel scrap/ H2O2 ) process under irradiation with sunlight was examined. Batch experiments were conducted to determine optimal operating conditions .The optimal doses of H2O2 and steel scrap were 15 mL/L and 1 g/L, respectively at pH 3.Colour removal of 89% was obtained under optimum condit...

Bioremediation of Textile Wastewater Dyes using Local Bacterial Isolates

Rapid industrialization and urbanization results in the discharge of large amounts of waste to the environment, which in turn creates more pollution (Senan and Abraham, 2004). Synthetic dyes are extensively used in textile dyeing, paper printing, color photography, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and other industries. During textile dyeing, the amount of dye lost in effluent is dependent upon t...
