چکیده

Recommender systems are designed to assist users in the search for product and service information and have been successfully deployed in a range of domains, from restaurants to route planning, movies to news. In particular, conversational recommender systems engage the user in an extended recommendation dialog, making suggestions and eliciting user feedback in order to guide the next round of recommendations. This complementary user-system interaction has led to a recent interest in mixed-initiative systems research. In this paper we examine some of the shortcomings of existing case-based conversational recommender systems. In particular, we highlight how a more flexible recommendation strategy, one that responds to intermediate recommendation success and failures, can lead to significant improvements in both the efficiency and quality of recommendation dialogs. We argue that such techniques have a role to play in mixed-initiative recommender systems in the future.

Intention Recognition for Mixed-Initiative Recommender Systems

Recently ideas from mixed-initiative systems have been explored in the context of conversational recommender systems as a way to improve the interaction between the user and system. In this paper we examine some of the shortcomings of existing conversational recommender systems. In particular, we highlight how a more flexible recommendation strategy, one that responds to intermediate recommenda...

Towards Conversational Recommender Systems: A Dialogue Grammar Approach

We highlight the importance of dialogue management in systems that support mixed-initiative interaction. For concreteness, we focus on interaction with recommender systems. We propose an approach that uses both a dialogue grammar and a recommendation strategy. The dialogue grammar makes explicit the opportunities the user and system have for seizing and ceding the initiative. But it maintains o...

Self-regulatory strategy and executive control: implementation intentions modulate task switching and Simon task performance.

Two tasks where failures of cognitive control are especially prevalent are task-switching and spatial Simon task paradigms. Both tasks require considerable strategic control for the participant to avoid the costs associated with switching tasks (task-switching paradigm) and to minimize the influence of spatial location (Simon task). In the current study, we assessed whether the use of a self-re...

Strategy Formulation for Service Failure Recovery, Using Mixed Research Method

The purpose of this study is to explain the strategies affecting the failure recovery in significant services which researches had previously disregarded. Since more than half of the total global wealth comes from the service sector, this study gains importance. Service failures and failed recoveries are among the leading causes of customer switching behavior from service organizations. The exi...

A new switching strategy for exponential stabilization of uncertain discrete-time switched linear systems in guaranteed cost control problem

Uncertain switched linear systems are known as an important class of control systems. Performance of these systems is affected by uncertainties and its stabilization is a main concern of recent studies. Existing work on stabilization of these systems only provides asymptotical stabilization via designing switching strategy and state-feedback controller. In this paper, a new switching strate...
