چکیده

Introduction Interest in organic production methods for vegetables continues to increase. Production practices for organic field production of vegetables have a long history, but practices to grow organic vegetable transplants in a spring greenhouse are poorly known. Organic fertilizers and composts are available but the efficacy and rates for use have not been evaluated. Experiments in the summer of 2003 were completed to learn more about the use of two organic fertilizers (fish emulsion 5-1-1 and Omega 6-6-6) and three composts (derived from horse manure, cow manure and worm castings) for the production of vegetable transplants.

Long-term survival of pathogenic and sanitation indicator bacteria in experimental biowaste composts.

For economic, agricultural, and environmental reasons, composting is frequently used for organic waste recycling. One approach to limiting the potential risk from bacterial food-borne illnesses is to ensure that soil amendments and organic fertilizers are disinfected. However, more knowledge concerning the microbiological safety of composted substrates other than sludge and manure is necessary....

The present study aims to residual effects of composts (plant residues, animal residues and mixed) with and without inorganic fertilizers on spinach (spinicia oleracea L.) plants and soils. The obtained results showed that the finished compost of plant residues was high in germination index (GI) and low in C/N ratio compared with the other composts. The study demonstrated that the spinach yield...
