چکیده

Abrams, B. A., Gutteridge, J. M. C., Stocks, J., Friedman, M., and Dormandy, T. L. (1973). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 48, 721. Vitamin E in neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. The polyunsaturated red cell lipids ofnewborn infants show a greatly increased susceptibility to autoxidation; and this may be a contributory factor to 'physiological' haemolysis. Vitamin E administered by mouth during the first week of life in relatively large doses reduced the susceptibility of red cells to autoxidation, but had no significant effect on the pattern of plasma bilirubin or haemoglobin changes.

Vitamin D and Hyperbilirubinaemia in Neonates

Objectives: Low antioxidant system may contribute to the severity of neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. This study was performed with the aim of establishing whether there is a relationship between serum vitamin D level and the hyperbilirubinaemia in full-term neonates. Material and methods: This prospective study was performed by comparing serum vitamin D levels in newborns with a pathological leve...

Effect of conjugated and unconjugated hyperbilirubinaemia on the plasma 25-hydroxy-vitamin D response to ultraviolet radiation in the rat.

1. Vitamin D deficiency was induced in anicteric Wistar rats, Wistar rats before common bile-duct ligation was performed and Gunn rats with unconjugated hyperbilirubinaemia. 2. The effect of ultraviolet radiation on plasma concentrations of 25-hydroxy-vitamin D was studied in a group of control anicteric Wistar rats (n = 11), Wistar rats 8 days after common bile-duct ligation (n = 7) with conju...

Conjugation inhibitors and early neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia.

Cole, A. P., and Hargreaves, T. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 415. Conjugation inhibitors and early neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. Milk and serum were obtained from 50 mothers on the 6th day post partum and examined for inhibitory activity against bilirubin conjugation in rat liver slices. Neonatal serum bilirubin levels were also analysed at this time. There was no relation betw...

Management of late-preterm and term infants with hyperbilirubinaemia in resource-constrained settings

Hyperbilirubinaemia is a ubiquitous transitional morbidity in the vast majority of newborns and a leading cause of hospitalisation in the first week of life worldwide. While timely and effective phototherapy and exchange transfusion are well proven treatments for severe neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia, inappropriate or ineffective treatment of hyperbilirubinaemia, at secondary and tertiary hospita...

Evaluation of neonatal indirect hyperbilirubinaemia at Zanjan Province of Iran in 2001-2003: prevalence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

INTRODUCTION Neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia, defined as a total serum bilirubin level above 5 mg/dL, is a frequent problem. This condition accounts for up to 75 percent of hospital readmissions in the first week of life. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the aetiology of indirect hyperbilirubinaemia and the prevalence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in newborns who ...
