چکیده

(11) KM s 0 (mod 2*--9). Conversely (11) implies (9). Since (9) holds for the modulus 2-9ikf, it follows similarly that (11) holds for the modulus 2~-9 with ikf = 2ikfi. Hence (11) will be true for the given modulus if M = 2~M\. This supplies a proof by induction that (8) is a universal form for every w ^ 4 . If, in addition,* ikf is divisible by every prime p where 3<p^n, we satisfy the necessary condition given by Dickson f for the form (8) to represent at least one set of n primes. The proof of the sufficiency of this condition still remains a challenge to the ingenuity of number theorists.

Some Algebraic Applications of Graded Categorical Group Theory

The homotopy classification of graded categorical groups and their homomorphisms is applied, in this paper, to obtain appropriate treatments for diverse crossed product constructions with operators which appear in several algebraic contexts. Precise classification theorems are therefore stated for equivariant extensions by groups either of monoids, or groups, or rings, or rings-groups or algebr...

0 Orthogonal Divided Differences and Schubert Polynomials , P̃ - Functions , and Vertex Operators

Using divided differences associated with the orthogonal groups, we investigate the structure of the polynomial rings over the rings of invariants of the corresponding Weyl groups. We study in more detail the action of orthogonal divided differences on some distinguished symmetric polynomials (P̃ polynomials) and relate it to vertex operators. Relevant families of orthogonal Schubert polynomials...

Definability of linear equation systems over groups and rings

Motivated by the quest for a logic for PTIME and recent insights that the descriptive complexity of problems from linear algebra is a crucial aspect of this problem, we study the solvability of linear equation systems over finite groups and rings from the viewpoint of logical (inter-)definability. All problems that we consider are decidable in polynomial time, but not expressible in fixedpoint ...

A Note on Chain Conditions in Nilpotent Rings and Groups

Maximal and minimal conditions for ideals in associative rings have often been considered, but little seems to be known of these conditions in non-associative rings, or of chain conditions on the non-normal subgroups of a group. Moreover, it is usual to assume the condition for one-sided ideals in noncommutative rings, and the weaker condition for two-sided ideals rarely appears. In this note w...

Hecke Operators on Hilbert–siegel Modular Forms

We define Hilbert–Siegel modular forms and Hecke “operators” acting on them. As with Hilbert modular forms (i.e. with Siegel degree 1), these linear transformations are not linear operators until we consider a direct product of spaces of modular forms (with varying groups), modulo natural identifications we can make between certain spaces. With Hilbert–Siegel forms (i.e. with arbitrary Siegel d...
