چکیده

Mycophenolic acid (MA) inhibits the growth of some pathogenic fungi such as Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans and several species of Trichophyton at low concentrations in vitro. The antibiotic is more effectvie against fungi at slightly acidic pH than neutral pH. When administered to mice through the intraperitoneal, intramuscular and oral routes MA excreted toafewper cent in the urine. However, at no time was active MA detectable in the blood of mice. MA is effective against experimental trichophytosis of the guinea pigs, without noticeable skin irritation or inflammation.

Use of Mycophenolate Mofetil in Dermatology

Background: In the past two decades, many new small molecules with immunosuppressive properties have been developed to prevent allograft rejection to be used particularly after organ transplantation. During clinical investigation in these conditions some of these substances have been observed to provide therapeutic efficacy in inflammatory skin disorders, as well. Recently, mycophenolate mofeti...

Cytochrome C and Caspase-3/7 are Involved in Mycophenolic Acid-induced Apoptosis in Genetically Engineered PC12 Neuronal Cells Expressing the p53 Gene

Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is the active metabolite of mycophenolate mofetil. This study designed to investigate the mechanism of cytotoxicity of MPA on the genetically engineered PC12 Tet Off (PTO) neuronal cells with p53 gene. Alamar Blue (AB) reduction showed concentration-dependent cytotoxicity of MPA on PTO cells with IC50 value of 32.32 ± 4.61 mM. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation...

Enhanced Mycophenolic Acid Production by Penicillium brevicompactum with Enzymatically Hydrolyzed Casein

Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is a secondary metabolite produced by Penicillium brevicompactum, which has antibiotic and immunosuppressive properties. In this study, the first, mycophenolic acid was produced in a fermentation process by Penicillium brevicompactum MUCL 19011 in shake flask using a base medium. The maximum MPA production, product yield and productivity of process were 1.379 g/L, 18.6 m...
