Motivation-biased design

چکیده
Motivation-biased design concerns how positive attitudes of designers can inhibit critical evaluation of their designs. Good intentions, admiration for certain design elements, or even concern to make a good impression on others can inhibit designers from being sufficiently critical of their designs. The result may be designs that are not as good as they would be otherwise. This article presents examples of motivationbiased design, explores cognitive mechanisms that might explain it, and considers how knowledge of the phenomenon might be useful in improving design practice.
