چکیده

The design of computer systems that incorporate both standardized oo-the-shelf processors, or software, as well as specialized hardware is referred to as hard-ware/software (hw/sw) co-design. This paper studies the problem and presents a system, the Hardware/Multi-Software Co-design (HMS) system, of obtaining the best hw/sw connguration for DSP applications. New algorithms for performing partitioning, scheduling, loop pipelining (retiming), hardware needability analysis, etc., are presented. The nal connguration satisses both area and time constraints while using as many standardized processors as possible along with a minimum amount of extra hardware.

Hardware/Software co-design with the HMS framework

Hardware/Software co-design is an increasingly common design style for integrated circuits. It allows the majority of a system to designed quickly with standardized parts, while special purpose hardware is used for the time critical portions of the system. The framework considered in this paper performs Hardware/Multi-Software (HMS) co-design for iterative loops, given an input speciication tha...

Design Issues in Hardware/Software Co-Design

The complexity of designing electronic systems and products is constantly increasing. The increasing complexity is due to the factors such as: portability, increased complexities of software and hardware, low power and high speed applications etc. Due to all these factors the electronic system design is moving towards System on Chip (SoC) with heterogeneous components like DSP, FPGA etc. This c...

Design and Implementation of Digital Demodulator for Frequency Modulated CW Radar (RESEARCH NOTE)

Radar Signal Processing has been an interesting area of research for realization of programmable digital signal processor using VLSI design techniques. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms have been an integral design methodology for implementation of high speed application specific real-time systems especially for high resolution radar. CORDIC algorithm, in recent times, is turned out to...

A retargetable tool-suite for the design of application specific instruction set processors using a machine description language

This paper presents BURAQ, a DSP development framework, which aims at optimizing cost, efficiency and turn around time of System-On-Chip development. BURAQ accepts an Instruction and Architecture description (IAD) file that represents the DSP and its instruction set at a higher level of abstraction, in a proprietary language. The system then synthesizes a complete hardware description of the pr...
