Some Observations on Comparing Zagreb Indices

چکیده
Let G be a simple graph possessing n vertices and m edges. Let di be the degree of the i-th vertex of G , i = 1, . . . , n . The first Zagreb index M1 is the sum of d 2 i over all vertices of G . The second Zagreb index M2 is the sum di dj over pairs of adjacent vertices of G . In this paper we search for graph for which M1/n = M2/m , and show how numerous such graphs can be constructed. In addition, we find examples of graphs for which M1/n > M2/m , which are counterexamples for the earlier conjectured inequality M1/n ≤ M2/m . On discriminativity of Zagreb indices
Zagreb indices belong to better known and better researched topological indices. We investigate here their ability to discriminate among benzenoid graphs and arrive at some quite unexpected conclusions. Along the way we establish tight (and sometimes sharp) lower and upper bounds on various classes of benzenoids.
متن کاملPredicting Some Physicochemical Properties of Octane Isomers: A Topological Approach Using ev-Degree and ve-Degree Zagreb Indices
Topological indices have important role in theoretical chemistry for QSPR researches. Among the all topological indices the Randić and the Zagreb indices have been used more considerably than any other topological indices in chemical and mathematical literature. Most of the topological indices as in the Randić and the Zagreb indices are based on the degrees of the vertices of a connected graph....
متن کاملExtermal trees with respect to some versions of Zagreb indices via majorization
The aim of this paper is using the majorization technique to identify the classes of trees with extermal (minimal or maximal) value of some topological indices, among all trees of order n ≥ 12
متن کاملOn leap Zagreb indices of graphs
The first and second Zagreb indices of a graph are equal, respectively, to the sum of squares of the vertex degrees, and the sum of the products of the degrees of pairs of adjacent vertices. We now consider analogous graph invariants, based on the second degrees of vertices (number of their second neighbors), called leap Zagreb indices. A number of their basic properties is established.
متن کاملNote on multiple Zagreb indices
The Zagreb indices are the oldest graph invariants used in mathematical chemistry to predict the chemical phenomena. In this paper we define the multiple versions of Zagreb indices based on degrees of vertices in a given graph and then we compute the first and second extremal graphs for them.
متن کاملOn ev-degree and ve-degree topological indices
Recently two new degree concepts have been defined in graph theory: ev-degree and ve-degree. Also the evdegree and ve-degree Zagreb and Randić indices have been defined very recently as parallel of the classical definitions of Zagreb and Randić indices. It was shown that ev-degree and ve-degree topological indices can be used as possible tools in QSPR researches . In this paper we d...
