Active Magnetic Bearing Control with Zero Steady-State Power Loss

چکیده
In this paper, we address the problem of controlling an active magnetic bearing with reduced ohmic power losses. A solution is proposed which introduces an exponentially decaying bias ßux in the nonlinear control law. To avoid control singularities, the closed-loop system is exponentially stabilized at a faster rate than the bias decay. In the steady state, the proposed controller has zero bias ßux; hence, there are no ohmic power losses. The control scheme is applied to two different bearing modes of operation all electromagnets active at all times and only one opposing electromagnet active at any given time. A rigorous analysis of the latter mode of operation is presented along with an implementation strategy. Simulations are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller for the two operating modes in comparison to a standard constant-bias controller.

Power Swings Damping Improvement with STATCOM and SMES Based on the Direct Lyapunov Method
In this paper a comprehensive approach is presented to improve power swings damping based on direct Lyapunov method. The approach combines superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system with static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). Considering the energy absorption/injection ability of SMES, in transient states the combination exchanges both active and reactive powers with power system....

متن کاملControl of Zero-Bias Magnetic Bearings Using Control Lyapunov Functions
Zero-bias or low-bias control of AMB's is essential for the design of magnetic bearings with low power losses. This paper investigates the use of control Lyapunov functions (clf's) to solve the problem of global asymptotic stabilization for a zero-bias Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB). We use the cascade structure of the system to derive a clf for the AMB model which is then used to derive a stabi...

Modal control is applied because local zero power control may ma...

This paper deals with the Active and Reactive Power control of double-fed induction generator (DFIG) for variable speed wind turbine. For controlling separately the active and the reactive power generated by a DFIG, field oriented control (FOC) and indirect sliding mode control (ISMC) are presented. These non linear controls are compared on the basis of topology, cost, efficiency. The main cont...
