A Fourth-Order Bandpass - Modulator Using Second-Order Bandpass Noise-Shaping Dynamic Element Matching

چکیده
A multibit, bandpass modulator (DSM) using bandpass noise-shaping dynamic element matching (BPNSDEM) is proposed. The modulator was implemented in a 0.25 m CMOS technology. It operates at a 2.5 V power supply and achieves a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 77.4 dB over a 250 kHz bandwidth centered at 566 kHz. The experimental results show the feasibility of a high-speed and high-resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which uses a frequency-interleaved technique.

A Noise-Shaping Algorithm of Multi-bit DAC Nonlinearities in Complex Bandpass ∆ΣAD Modulators
This paper presents a technique for improving the SNR and resolution of complex bandpass ∆ΣADCs which are used for wireless communication systems such as cellular phone, wireless LAN and Bluetooth. Oversampling and noise-shaping are used to achieve high accuracy of a ∆ΣAD modulator. However when a multi-bit internal DAC is used inside a modulator, nonlinearities of the DAC are not noise-shaped ...
متن کاملReducing multibit DAC circuits errors by a simplified dynamic element matching algorithm used in delta-sigma converters
Resolution of a multibit delta-sigma modulator (DSM) is limited by its internal digital-to-analog converter (DAC) nonlinearity that is usually caused by circuit mismatch errors while realizing. Recently, some dynamic element matching (DEM) methods were proposed for reducing mismatch errors. Two main difficulties of different dynamic element matching (DEM) techniques relate to instability and co...
متن کاملComplex Bandpass ΔΣAD Modulator with Noise-coupled Architecture
Complex bandpass ΔΣAD modulators can provide superior performance to a pair of real bandpassΔΣAD modulators of the same order. They process just input I and Q signals, not image signals, and AD conversion can be realized with low power dissipation, so that they are desirable for such low-IF receiver applications. This paper proposes a new architecture for complex bandpass ΔΣAD modulators with n...
متن کاملEffective-fourth-order resonator based MASH bandpass sigma-delta modulators
Two novel effective-fourth-order (eighth-order) resonator based MASH bandpass Σ−∆ modulators are introduced at the behavioural level and subsequently examined by simulations utilising the ALTA SPW environment. The considered bandpass configurations have in their loop filter a cascade of standard second-order resonator structures in order to achieve appropriate noise shaping. The quantisation no...
متن کاملA 14-bit Bandpass Mash Sigma-delta Pipeline A/d Converter
In this paper a two stage bandpass MASH (multi-stage noise shaping) sigma-delta ( Σ∆ ) modulator is presented. A resolution of 14 bits has been achieved over a 5 MHz band around an intermediate frequency (IF) of 20 MHz with a clock frequency of 80 MHz. This performance is obtained using a 6-th order bandpass Σ∆ modulator followed by a 10 bit pipeline converter. The proposed circuit has been ext...
