چکیده

This paper addresses the potential uncertainty in Cook (2007)’s methodology to classify dual-role factors by introducing a useful property. In addition, if the assumption that dual-role factors can be clearly classified into either inputs or outputs, which underlies Cook (2007), doesn't hold, an extension of DEA model incorporating dual-role factors is proposed in this paper. Then a theorem is proved to formulate the relation between the proposed model and the traditional CCR model. Finally a numerical example is illustrated to offer insights into the new model.

Cost Efficiency of Closed–Loop Supply Chain in the Presence of Dual-Role and Undesirable Factors

Supply chain management is essential for the success of firms and customer satisfaction. In addition, a suitable performance evaluation system is vital to the effective management of the supply chain. Due to the importance of cost management in the supply chain, an approach based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is proposed in the current study for evaluating the cost efficiency of closed-loo...

Determination of right/left return to scale in two-stage processes based on dual simplex

As a non-parametric method of relative efficient measurement of a group of decision-making units (〖DMU〗_s), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is one of the most important tools in efficiency computation. One of the main concerns dealt with in DEA is dealing with return to scale in two-stage processes in which, produced outputs of the first stage inputs are used as inputs for the second stage. The...

Automotive Vendor's Performance Evaluation and Improvement Plan Presentation by Using a Data Envelopment Analysis

Vendors play a key role in their company's success, so having a vendor's performance evaluation system in order to identify strengths, areas of improvement and profitability in any company is essential. In this paper, first data envelopment analysis (DEA) which is a technique to evaluate the performance of decision-making units (DMUs) is studied. Then the efficiency scores of 66 automotive vend...

The use of data envelopment analysis for international market selection in the presence of multiple dual-role factors

Selection of international market (IM) is a critical decision and needs to be made with considerable attention and deliberation. In some situations however, some criteria have the nature of both cost and profit. Likewise, in data envelopment analysis (DEA) some criteria play both input (cost) and output (profit) roles, simultaneously. In the DEA literature such criteria are called dual-role fac...

Technology selection in the presence of dual-role factors

Abstract Technologies have varied strengths and weaknesses which require careful assessment by the purchasers. One of the uses of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is technology selection. The traditional models of DEA do not consider dual-role factors. The objective of this paper is to use a model for selecting the best technologies in the presence of dual-role factors. The model determines whet...
