Modelling hypermedia implementation and nodeless hypermedia

چکیده
This thesis addresses several areas in the field of hypermedia research. First the core concepts of hypermedia, nodes, links etc. are examined and in each case existing work is considered along with new concepts in order to form a standardised toolkit. Secondly, the modelling of hypermedia implementation is considered. In this section the development of a modelling scheme is traced and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach are discussed. Thirdly, a particular system based on these models, Goate, is introduced. The design, usefulness and drawbacks of Goate are discussed. Some examples of linking specifications implemented with Goate are given and discussed. Fourthly, an entirely different way of modelling hypermedia that doesn’t rely on the concept of a node is introduced. This approach, named Atomic Hypermedia, is based around the single data construct of an atom, where each atom holds a single character. Lastly, a language named Hedgehog is introduced which is designed for the manipulation of Atomic Hypermedia. This section details the motivation and structure of Hedgehog, as well as providing examples of operations on Atomic Hypermedia.

متن کاملHypermedia Modelling Using UML
This paper discusses an approach to hypermedia modelling using the Unified Modelling Language (UML). We describe hypermedia models based on four established views of hypermedia system: application domain model, navigation model, presentation model and user model. The approach emphasises UML state diagrams as capable technique for navigation modelling. We relate our approach to other types of mo...
متن کاملTowards Variability Modelling for Reuse in Hypermedia Engineering
In this paper we discuss variability modelling for hypermedia applications. Inspired by domain engineering, we propose a domain engineering based method for hypermedia development. Since several adaptive hypermedia become more and more popular to incorporate different information views for different audience or environments, we believe that it is important to move variability capturing to model...
متن کاملComplexity Analysis of Link Navigation in Dexter Based Hypermedia Database Systems
Today's multimedia and hypermedia systems include such a huge amount of data and links, that they should be stored and maintained by a database system. Then a powerful and efficient database schema is needed. The Dexter hypertext reference model offers a widely accepted, powerful modelling technique for nodes and links. We present its stepwise conversion into a relational multimedia database sc...

This paper presents an XML-based Adaptive Hypermedia Model (XAHM) and its modular architecture, for modelling and supporting Adaptive Hypermedia Systems, i.e. hypertext-based multimedia systems that allow user-driven access to information and content personalization. We propose a graph-based layered model for the description of the logical structure of the hypermedia, and XML-based models for t...
