چکیده

Internet marketplaces are now faced with new challenges that arise from the need to seamlessly integrate enormous number of product catalogs from different sources. In order to help users find products efficiently, Internet shops provide hierarchies of product catalogs (called category hierarchies). However, the absence of robust models (and well understood semantics) for product catalogs and their hierarchies severely impairs our ability to systematically support structured operations. In this paper, we present an extended catalog model whose purpose is to provide a universal product catalog repository with browsing, searching, and downloading capabilities in order to facilitate catalog sharing and interoperability. In addition, we present a model for category hierarchies with well defined semantics which allows flexible representation of product hierarchies as well as automatic merging of different category hierarchies as a special case of catalog integration.

Hierarchical Web Catalog Integration with Conceptual Relationships in a Thesaurus

Web catalog integration has become an integral aspect of current digital content management for Internet and e-commerce environments. The Web catalog integration problem concerns integration of documents in a source catalog into a destination catalog. Many investigations have focused on flattened (one-dimensional) catalogs, but few works address hierarchical Web catalog integration. This study ...

A Layered Integration Approach for Product Descriptions in B2B E-commerce

Electronic B2B marketplaces bring together many online suppliers and buyers, each of which can potentially use their own format to represent the products in his product catalog. To mediate the participants the marketplaces have to perform nontrivial mappings of these catalog formats. In this paper we analyze the problems, which occur in defining mapping rules able to translate between these for...

A Two-Layered Integration Approach for Product Information in B2B E-commerce

Electronic B2B marketplaces bring together many online suppliers and buyers, each of which can potentially use his own format to represent the products in his product catalog. The marketplaces have to perform non-trivial mappings of these catalogs. In this paper, we analyze the problems which occur during the integration, taking several leading XML-based standards as an example. We advocate a t...

Syntactic-Level Ontology Integration Rules for E-Commerce

Electronic marketplaces, or e-commerce portals, bring together many online suppliers and buyers. Each individual participant can potentially use his own format to represent the products in his product catalog, and mapping between them becomes non-trivial. Complicated products require knowledge-intensive descriptions, or ontologies, and catalog integration shifts to integration of product ontolo...

CatRelate: A New Hierarchical Document Category Integration Algorithm by Learning Category Relationships

We address the problem of integrating documents from a source catalog into a master catalog. Current technologies for solving the problem deem it as a flat category integration problem without considering the useful hierarchy information in the catalog, or deal with it hierarchically but without a rigorous model. In contrast, our method is based on correctly identifying relationships among cate...
