DEA based auctions

چکیده

We discuss the design of multi-dimensional tender and auction mechanisms that combine Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and auction theory. The mechanisms select an agent to perform or acquire a project characterized by multiple attributes. The optimal configuration of the multiple attributes is settled endogenously by trading off the costs to the provider with the benefits to the acquiring. This is done within a context of asymmetric information and strategic behavior as well as possibly correlated costs. The mechanisms make it individually rational and incentive compatible to participate and reveal costs and benefits, and the outcome is socially optimal (allocatively efficient).

A Comparative Study of Multi-Attribute Continuous Double Auction Mechanisms

Auctions have been as a competitive method of buying and selling valuable or rare items for a long time. Single-sided auctions in which participants negotiate on a single attribute (e.g. price) are very popular. Double auctions and negotiation on multiple attributes create more advantages compared to single-sided and single-attribute auctions. Nonetheless, this adds the complexity of the auctio...

Achieving Simultaneous Spectrum Utilization and Revenue Improvements in Practical Wireless Spectrum Auctions

Spectrum is a valuable, scarce and finite natural resource that is needed for many different applications, so efficient use of the scarce radio spectrum is important for accommodating the rapid growth of wireless communications. Spectrum auctions are one of the best-known market-based solutions to improve the efficiency of spectrum use. However, Spectrum auctions are fundamentally differen...

Business-to-business Collaboration in a Softgoods E-supply Chain I01-s01 I. Background and Project Objectives

The effort in this project has been directed to studying the state-of-the-art of Data Envelopment Analysis, cooperative games, and auctions and developing corresponding models to capture vague and uncertain factors and demonstrate their potential for establishing collaboration and contracts in the increasingly global softgoods supply chain. Prototype software packages have also been developed. ...

Network DEA pitfalls: Divisional efficiency and frontier projection under general network structures

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method for measuring the efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs). Recently network DEA models been developed to examine the efficiency of DMUs with internal structures. The internal network structures range from a simple two-stage process to a complex system where multiple divisions are linked together with intermediate measures. In general, there ar...

Winner Determination in Combinatorial Auctions using Hybrid Ant Colony Optimization and Multi-Neighborhood Local Search

A combinatorial auction is an auction where the bidders have the choice to bid on bundles of items. The WDP in combinatorial auctions is the problem of finding winning bids that maximize the auctioneer’s revenue under the constraint that each item can be allocated to at most one bidder. The WDP is known as an NP-hard problem with practical applications like electronic commerce, production manag...
