چکیده

Cook and Zhu (2007) extend the DEA structure to apply to the more general setting where DMUs fall into distinct groups whose members experience similar circumstances. As these authors state, in those cases the DMUs of a group are to be treated uniformly in terms of multiplier allocation. In the same contextual setting, the present paper proposes a DEA-based approach which is primarily focused on benchmarking and the setting of targets. Models are developed for situations where a common best-practice frontier is identified for a group of DMUs as a result of the choice of facets that yields the closest targets. The example examined is concerned with the evaluation of research performance of Spanish universities, by assuming a common framework for the benchmarking of those in the same autonomous region. © 2016 Elsevier B.V. Practical benchmarking in DEA using artificial DMUs

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is one of the most efficient tools for efficiency measurement which can be employed as a benchmarking method with multiple inputs and outputs. However, DEA does not provide any suggestions for improving efficient units, nor does it provide any benchmark or reference point for these efficient units. Impracticability of these benchmarks under environmental conditio...

Best-practice benchmarking using clustering methods: Application to energy regulation

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is widely used as a benchmarking tool for improving productive performance of decision making units (DMUs). The benchmarks produced by DEA are obtained as a sideproduct of computing efficiency scores. As a result, the benchmark units may differ from the evaluated DMU in terms of their input–output profiles and the scale size. Moreover, the DEA benchmarks may oper...

Benchmarking Facility Management by Relative Efficiency

Benchmarking is often claimed to be a powerful means of continuous improvement for facility managers but benchmarking tools in facility management are less developed than for other services businesses. The most common information which Facility Managers can get from benchmarking results is their positions of performance. Rankings on performance, without further analysis, cannot help much for th...
