Abstract:

A research has been conducted in research greenhouse of Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch in spring 2016 to investigate the effect of Sulfur and Thiobacillus on yield and some of physiological traits in common bean cultivars in experimental water deficit stress conditions as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with three replications. In this study investigated three varieties of beans cultivars (Dorsa, Akhtar and Sadri), four levels of fertilizer (control, 300 kg / ha sulfur fertilizer, Thiobacillus and sulfur fertilizer + Thiobacillus) and water deficit stress (control, irrigation cut off at flowering and full legume time). Results revealed that water deficit especially irrigation cut off at flowering reduced harvest index, yield, RWC and increased Stomata resistance. The application of Thiobacillus and sulfur decreased the negative effects of stress. Chlorophyll a, b, total and carotenoid increased maturity stress that the increase in the presence of sulfur + Thiobacillus more. There was negative correlation between yield and harvest index with stomatal resistance. The conclusion indicated that the application of sulfur + Thiobacillus could be beneficial in increasing yield and Contributing to the sustained activity of photosynthetic pigments under water deficit stress condition.

The morphological and biochemical effect of phosphate deficiency on different cultivars of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

Phosphorus is an essential nutrient for plant growth and productivity. Since agricultural soils in Iran are predominantly calcareous with very low available Pi content, Pi deficiency has been considered to be a major nutritional constraint for crop production, thus, the application of Pi-fertilizers is essential for satisfactory crop production. The application of Pi-fertilizers contaminates so...

Impact of exogenous salicylic acid application on some traits of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris l.) under water stress conditions

Salicylic acid (SA) is an endogenous plant growth regulator of phenolic nature that plays a key role in the regulation of plant growth, development, interaction with other organisms and in the responses to environmental stresses such as drought. An experiment was therefore, conducted to evaluation the influence of exogenous SA application on some traits of common bean under water stress conditi...

The effect of priming on physiological and biochemical traits of French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) under cobalt chloride stress

Extended Abstract Introduction: The germination stage ensures the durability, establishment, and final yield of plants.  The final density of plants per unit area is resulted when the planted seeds germinate fully and with adequate rate. Plants mainly undergo abiotic stresses that are a considerable constraint for agricultural production worldwide. Seed priming is one of the simplest and cheap...

Effect of foliar application of seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum extract on morpho-physiological characteristics of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) under water stress

Seaweed extract can improve the physicochemical properties of the soil and has a favorable effect on the plant growth and development due to having high nutrient content, high water holding capacity, plant growth regulators and beneficial microorganisms. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect of Ascophyllum nodosum extract, a brown alga, on the morphophysiological characterist...
