چکیده مقاله:

Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) as a microglia-derived anti-inflammatory cytokine has a pivotal activity in memory consolidation. However, there is limited evidence on brain cell-originated IGF2 expression, regulation and function in pathological condition and neuro-inflammation. Hence, the present study was conducted to investigate the effect of IGF2 on improving the memory impairment in a rat model of hippocampal intracerebral hemorrhage. 24 male Sprague Dawley rats randomly assigned into three groups. To stablish a rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage, 100 µl of blood autologous was injected into the left hippocampus. The animals received intrahipocampally the IGF2 upon 30 minutes after injecting the blood, followed by testing for behavioral parameters, including neurological deficit score, passive avoidance test, wire hanging test and novel object recognition at two weeks after the injection, then hippocampus volume was estimated using the Cavalieri method. The result indicated that retention and recall capability improved, was IGF2 injected into hippocampus compare with control group (P<0.05). Also, neurological deficit score significantly increased following IGF2 injection (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in locomotor deficits measured by wire hanging test between groups. Moreover, hippocampal volume increased (P<0.01) and infract volume decreased (P<0.01) in IGF2 group compared to the control group. Our results showed that the IGF2 injected into the hippocampus promoted learning and memory and also IGF2 as a microglia-derived anti-inflammatory had a positive influence on infract volume resulted from brain secondary damage and neuroinflammation after ICH.

The insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) mRNA-binding protein p62/IGF2BP2-2 as a promoter of NAFLD and HCC?

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) represents the most common hepatic manifestation of chronic liver diseases in developed countries. Since non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is responsible for a large proportion of cryptogenic cirrhosis and cirrhosis represents the main risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), HCC is a severe complication of end-stage NAFLD. Recent evidence pub...

Effect of Vitamin D3 on Improvement of Learning and Spatial Memory Following Demyelination induction in hippocampal CA1 Area of rat

Introduction: Consumption of vitamin D3 is effective to reduce intensity of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Neurons of the central nervous system are constantly exposed to reactive oxygen species and these factors play a key role in the destruction of myelin and damage of axons. The hippocampus is a vital center for learning and memory in central nervous system. This area is ...

The Effect of Hepatocyte Growth Factor on Learning and Memory Abilities in a Rat Model of Kainate-Induced Epilepsy

Background and Objective: Epilepsy as a chronic neurological disorder causes inherent seizures and learning and memory failure. Since there is no acceptable control of seizures in some patients with the current recommended drug therapy, new medications with different mechanisms of action are needed. Here, the beneficial effect of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) was evaluated in an experimental m...

Protective effect of α-terpineol against impairment of hippocampal synaptic plasticity and spatial memory following transient cerebral ischemia in rats

Objective(s): Cerebral ischemia is often associated with cognitive impairment. Oxidative stress has a crucial role in the memory deficit following ischemia/reperfusion injury. α-Terpineol is a monoterpenoid with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of α-terpineol against memory impairment following cerebral ischemia in rats. Materials a...

Paternal Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (Igf2) Regulates Stem Cell Activity During Adulthood

Insulin-like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) belongs to the IGF/Insulin pathway, a highly conserved evolutionarily network that regulates growth, aging and lifespan. Igf2 is highly expressed in the embryo and in cancer cells. During mouse development, Igf2 is expressed in all sites where hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) successively expand, then its expression drops at weaning and becomes undetectable whe...
