The quality of brain tumor resection surgery is dependent on the spatial agreement between preoperative image and intraoperative anatomy. However, brain shift compromises the aforementioned alignment. Currently, the clinical standard to monitor brain shift is intraoperative magnetic resonance (iMR). While iMR provides better understanding of brain shift, its cost and encumbrance is a considerat...

Recently, ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) has been shown to be an individual risk factor for ischemic heart disease. The main mechanism of IMR is tethering of the leaflet secondary to left ventricular (LV) dilatation. In this situation, surgical treatment for IMR has been limited to ring annuloplasty with varying degrees of effectiveness. However, mid-term follow-up studies have shown that ...

To determine whether integrative medicine rehabilitation (IMR) that combines conventional rehabilitation (CR) with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has better effects for subacute stroke than CR alone, we conducted a multicenter randomized controlled trial that involved three hospitals in China. Three hundred sixty patients with subacute stroke were randomized into IMR and CR groups. The...

Background Inflammation and microvascular dysfunction (MVD) are independently associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ischemic heart disease. This study aimed to assess the relationship between inflammation, MVD, and myocardial injury. Methods Coronary microvascular function was assessed in 74 patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using the inde...

OBJECTIVE To study the infant mortality rate (IMR) trend during wars and sanction periods in Western Iraq. METHODS Data collected from the birth and death certificates of Haditha Health Vital Statistics Center, Haditha city (80,000 population), Western Iraq, included name, age, gender, residence, and infant's place and date of births and deaths, in 5 different sanction and war stages of the c...

Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) is a common complication of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Current evidences suggest that revascularization of the culprit vessels with percutaneous coronary artery intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting can be beneficial for relieving IMR. A 2.5-year follow-up data of a 61-year-old male patient with ST-segment elevation AMI complicated wit...

Computed tomography (CT) is one of the most important modalities in a radiological department. This technique not only produces images that enable radiological reports with high diagnostic confidence, but it may also provide an elevated radiation dose to the patient. The radiation dose can be reduced by using advanced image reconstruction algorithms. This study was performed on a Brilliance iCT...

Background/Aims:. The aim of this study was to elucidate the effects of glucose restriction (GR) on cell replicative senescence in vitro by human diploid fibroblasts IMR-90. Methods: IMR-90 cells were cultured under 40, 60% GR or high glucose medium and biomarkers of cell senescence were compared with cells cultured in normal glucose medium (5.5 mM glucose). The impact of different concentratio...

BACKGROUND Infant mortality rate (IMR) is a key public health indicator. Maternal age is a well-known determinant of pregnancy and delivery complications and of infant morbidity and mortality. In Italy the Infant Mortality Rate was 3.7/1000 during 2005, lower than the average IMR for the European Union (4.94/1000). Sicily is the Italian region with the highest IMR, 5/1000, and neonatal mortalit...

The implicit midpoint rule (IMR) for nonexpansive mappings is established in Banach spaces. The IMR generates a sequence by an implicit algorithm. Weak convergence of this algorithm is proved in a uniformly convex Banach space which either satisfies Opial’s property or has a Fréchet differentiable norm. Consequently, this algorithm applies in both `p and Lp for 1 < p < ∞.
