Tracking and recognizing non-rigid objects in video image sequences are complex tasks of increa sing importance to many applications. For the tracking of such objects in a video sequence e.g. "active shape models" can be applied. The existing active shape models are usually based on intensity information and they do not consider color information. However, active shape models are sensitive to o...

Segmentation of the left ventricle in echocardiographic images is a task with important diagnostic power. We propose a model-based approach that aims at extracting the left ventricle for each frame of the cardiac cycle. Our approach exhibits several novel elements. Modelling consists of two separate components, one for the systolic and one for the diastolic moment. Segmentation is considered in...

In this paper we describe a real-time speech-driven method for synthesising realistic video sequences of a subject enunciating arbitrary phrases. In an offline training phase an active appearance model (AAM) is constructed from hand-labelled images and is used to encode the face of a subject reciting a few training sentences. Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) coupled with linear regression i...

In this paper, a method based on Active Appearance Models (AAM) is applied for automatic registration of myocardial perfusion MRI. A semi-quantitative perfusion assessment of the registered image sequences is presented. This includes the formation of perfusion maps for three parameters; maximum up-slope, peak and time-to-peak.
