Multiple-Instance Learning (MIL) has attracted much attention of the machine learning community in recent years and many real-world applications have been successfully formulated as MIL problems. Over the past few years, several Instance Selection-based MIL (ISMIL) algorithms have been presented by using the concept of the embedding space. Although they delivered very promising performance, the...

BACKGROUND Although immunosuppressive therapy for myocarditis has attracted a great deal of attention, its effectiveness is controversial. Interleukin (IL)-10 has a variety of immunomodulatory properties. Among the nonviral techniques for gene transfer in vivo, the direct injection of plasmid DNA into muscle is simple, inexpensive, and safe. METHODS AND RESULTS We examined the applicability o...

BACKGROUND Nefang is a polyherbal anti-malarial composed of Mangifera indica ( MiB and MiL; bark and leaf), Psidium guajava ( Pg ), Carica papaya ( Cp ), Cymbopogon citratus ( Cc ), Citrus sinensis ( Cs ) and Ocimum gratissimum ( Og ) (leaves). Previous studies have demonstrated its in vitro and in vivo antiplasmodial activities, antioxidant properties and safety profile. This study aimed at ev...

In order to explore the relationship between IL-15 and aplastic anemia (AA), bone marrow (BM) fibroblast-like stromal cells (BMFSCs) were obtained from BM samples of 23 AA patients by density centrifugation and primary culturing in vitro. Indirect immunofluorescence labeling as well as flow cytometry and confocal laser scanning microscopy analysis were used to determine the expression of membra...

The scandium analogue of the flexible terephthalate MIL-53 yields a novel closed pore structure upon removal of guest molecules which has unusual thermal behaviour and stepwise opening during CO(2) adsorption. By contrast, the nitro-functionalised MIL-53(Sc) cannot fully close and the structure possesses permanent porosity for CO(2).

Iron tetrasulfophthalocyanine (FePcS) has been irreversibly inserted into nanocages of the metal organic framework MIL-101 to give a hybrid material FePcS/MIL-101 which demonstrated a superior catalytic performance in the selective oxidation of aromatic substrates with (t)BuOOH than homogeneous FePcS.

The novel signal peptide SLPmod was used for the secretion of murine interleukin-12 (mIL-12) by Lactococcus lactis. A >4-fold increase in secretion was observed when SLPmod was used instead of the Usp45-derived secretion signal. Oral delivery of this cytokine using the autoinducible host L. lactis FI5876 utilizing SLPmod resulted in a significant increase in mIL-12 plasma levels in mice.

A quantitatively major protein has been purified from the latex of Morus indica. The purified previously uncharacterized protein, M. indica lectin (MIL), was further shown to be a glycosylated tetramer and belongs to the family of jacalin-related lectins. Crystallization of MIL was also accomplished and the tetragonal crystals diffracted synchrotron X-rays to a resolution of 2.8 Å.

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) buffer was systematically designed to relieve the inhibition caused by hydrophobic magnetic ionic liquids (MILs). We describe a simple, rapid method for MIL-based plasmid DNA extraction from crude bacterial cell lysate in which DNA-enriched MIL is transferred directly to a PCR tube for analysis.

A very high catalytic activity in the cyanosilylation reaction was observed for MIL-101, a chromium based metal-organic framework; moreover, MIL-101 is also a remarkably stable support for palladium in hydrogenation reactions, with significantly higher activity than e.g. palladium on activated carbon.
