Schematic of a silicon carbide ceramic in an active atmosphere. Data evaluation must account for the complexity of polycrystalline materials and the resulting dependence of material properties on chemical composition, physical microstructure, and environmental conditions. Certain commercial entities, equipment, or materials may be identified in this document in order to describe an experimental...

The priority attributed to the use of Bloom’s revised cognitive skills taxonomy in any educational system and the scarcity of research on this type of topic in our EFL context, the researchers attempted to conduct this study. Our primary objectives revolved around these dimensions. To examine if the pre-university teaching materials (English 1 and 2) assigned and employed by t...

Patient education is important for the prevention of surgical site infections (SSIs). The usefulness of available patient education materials is unclear. Using a validated evaluation tool, the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool, we systematically assessed patient education materials for SSI. We found that available materials performed poorly, and further research is needed in this area.

Nondestructive evaluation of materials, the science of identifying the physical and mechanical properties of materials without altering their end-use capabilities, is valuable in defining relationships between properties and performance of materials. Nondestructive evaluation techniques using these relationships have current industrial applications. They are used for machine stress rating of lu...

OBJECTIVES To develop an educational program designed to train health care providers in resource limited settings to carry out neonatal resuscitation. We analyzed facilitator and learner perceptions about the course, examined skill performance, and assessed the quality of instruments used for learner evaluation as part of the formative evaluation of the educational program Helping Babies Breath...

With numerous studies demonstrating that psychosocial care reduces distress and improves quality of life, practitioners have an obligation to treat cancer patients in a manner consistent with this evidence. Although the rationale is straightforward, major challenges exist in achieving the goal of translating research into clinical practice. One challenge has been the nature of the evidence, wit...

The U.S. educational system invests heavily, in both time and money, in continuing education for teachers. In this article Heather Hill examines the effectiveness of two forms of teacher learning-graduate coursework and professional development. She focuses first on graduate education. Almost half of all teachers have a master's degree. Many states allow graduate coursework to count toward rece...

OBJECTIVE Objective evaluation methods of time history signals are used to quantify how well simulated human body responses match experimental data. As the use of simulations grows in the field of biomechanics, there is a need to establish standard approaches for comparisons. There are 2 aims of this study. The first is to apply 3 objective evaluation methods found in the literature to a set of...
