 Trichloroethylene is readily absorbed following exposure by inhalation or ingestion and to some extent following skin contact  Following absorption trichloroethylene is distributed throughout the body  Trichloroethylene undergoes metabolism via an oxidative pathway  The main metabolites are trichloroethanol, trichloroethanol-glucuronide and trichloroacetic acid  Trichloroethylene is excre...

A new 5'-nucleotidase inhibitor named nucleoticidin was produced by Pseudomonas sp. YM-3229G. It was isolated from a fermentation broth by trichloroacetic acid extraction, ethanol precipitation and Dowex 1 and DEAE-52 column chromatography. It inhibited 5'-nucleotidase activity of snake venom and rat liver membrane. It also showed antitumor activity against solid type Sarcoma 180.

A cell-free assay has been developed for the delivery of influenza virus neuraminidase to the plasma membrane. Two types of postnuclear supernatant, which acted as donor and acceptor of the enzyme, were prepared from baby hamster kidney cells. Donor preparations were obtained from cells infected with influenza virus and containing neuraminidase en route to the plasma membrane. Acceptor preparat...

Background: Histamine is a food-borne chemical hazard which causes scombroid poisoning. The efficiency of histamine recovery from fish is greatly influenced by selection of an appropriate extraction solvent. Hence, in this study the efficiency of different extraction solvents on recovery of histamine from fresh, frozen and canned fish was evaluated. Methods: Fresh, frozen and canned rainbow tr...

The enzymatic alcohol (ethanol, ALC) analytical pack for the duPont aca is intended primarily for the analysis of serum or plasma samples containing no visibly detectable free hemoglobin (non-hemolyzed samples). It has become apparent, through clinical and medicolegal consultation, that this methodology has been applied for assay of ethanol content in hemolyzed samples (sample sources: clinical...

The amount of polyphosphate in the intraradical and extraradical hyphae of Gigaspora margarita was estimated from successive extractions with trichloroacetic acid (TCA), EDTA, and phenol-chloroform (PC). In the intraradical hyphae, most of the polyphosphate was present in TCA- and EDTA-soluble (short-chain and long-chain) fractions, whereas most of the polyphosphate in the extraradical hyphae w...

Metronidazole and its known metabolites in plasma can be rapidly separated by a "high-pressure" liquid-chromatographic method that can also be adapted for rapid determination of tinidazole. Samples deproteinized with trichloroacetic acid (50 g/L final concentration) undergo isocratic separation on a reversed-phase C18 column eluted with an 8/92 (by vol) mixture of acetonitrile/KH2PO4 (5 mmol/L,...

A method has been described for the determination of proteolytic activities of enzyme preparations using casein as substrate. The rate of digestion is proportional to the enzyme concentration used. This relationship is utilized as a measure of the enzyme activity. One unit of activity is defined as the amount which is required to digest casein in 15 minutes at 37.5 degrees C. so that 50 per cen...
