چکیده

This chapter reviews the latest research on bisphenol A (BPA), including human exposure, discussions of biomonitoring studies, and toxickinetic models, human health effects and research needs, and experimental studies on low dose effects on the reproductive, neurodevelopmental, and metabolic systems. While the objective here is not to conduct a risk assessment nor directly inform public policy, the emergent body of knowledge about BPA serves as an important resource for regulators and policy makers faced with the challenge of integrating new tools, technologies, and understandings of disease etiology into risk assessment methodologies and assumptions. The research on BPA reflects an important shift in toxicity testing toward studies that use dosing levels relevant to human exposure and end points of human relevance. The relevance and reliability of the research reviewed here provides a solid foundation of knowledge from which toxicologists, epidemiologists, public health practitioners, and policy makers may draw from and build upon to inform their research and decision making.

Quantitative Assessment of Bisphenol A in Multiple Brands of Bottled Drinking Water in Iran

Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the hazardous materials causing disruption of endocrine pathways. Due to water contamination by this component from multiple sources and the associated health problems, BPA has been the focus of multiple studies. It has been proved that BPA may cause harm because of its impact on estrogenic receptors in human and other organisms. Methods: In this study, ...

Comparative modelling of 3D-structure of Geobacter sp. M21 (a metal reducing bacteria) Mn-Fe superoxide dismutase and its binding properties with bisphenol-A, aminotriazole and ethylene-diurea

Superoxide dismutase play important roles in iron-respiratory bacteria such as Geobacteraceae as an antioxidant defense, and probably an effective enzyme of electron transfer network. Regarding the application of iron-respiratory bacteria in environmental biotechnology particularly biodegradation and bioremediation, understanding the mechanism of inhibition/induction of superoxide dismutase by ...

Effects of bisphenol-S low concentrations on oxidative stress status and in vitro fertilization potential in mature female mice

Bisphenol-S (BPS) is a new bisphenol-A substitute widely used in many plastic products. Bisphenol-A as a main member of bisphenol family has been known as an endocrine system disrupter chemical compound. Like other members of bisphenol family, there is public health concern about the toxic effects of BPS on reproductive system, thus, we examined BPS effects on in vitro fertilization (I...
