ارزیابی اثر عصاره الکلی آرتمیزیا اولیوریانا بر بیان ژن‌های icaA، icaD وebps در استافیلوکوکوس اورئوس مقاوم به متی‌سیلین: یک گزارش کوتاه

Background and Objectives: Expression of genes related to biofilm formation in methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) can play an effective role in biofilm formation and pathogenicity. Due to the significance of antimicrobial activity of Artemisia species against biofilm producer genes,&nbsp; this study aimed to evaluate the effect of ethanolic extract of Artemisia oliveriana on the expression&nbsp;of&nbsp;icaA, icaD, and ebps genes in MRSA. Materials and Methods: This was a laboratory study. First, Artemisia oliveriana&nbsp; extract was prepared and then, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of growth for the extract of the plant against s. aureus strains containing mecA was obtained by microdilution method . Then, at the lower concentrations, levels of expression in the icaA, icaD, and ebps &nbsp;genes in MRSA were determined by Real-Time PCR, and the results were analyzed through repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The MIC of ethanolic extract of A. oliveriana was 512 &mu;g/ml. The reduction of the expression of the genes in the standard sample after 4, 8, and 16 hours was significant in the Artemisia&nbsp; oliveriana group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The ethanolic extracts of Artemisia oliveriana had a significant effect on the expression of the genes involved in biofilm formation and this expression reduction was not seen in the housekeeping DNA gyrase-B as a reference gene.
