Basic Science Lecturer’s Perspectives on Integration in Babol University of Medical Sciences

Abstract:

Introduction: Integration is an important teaching strategy for some scholars. It can assist medical academic members achieve educational goal_ planning, implementation and evaluation of the educational planning. This study aimed to evaluate Babol University basic science lecturer’s opinions regarding integration. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 26 academic staff of Babol University of Medical Sciences. Research measurement was a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of demographic and 17 questions in likert scale related to integration significance, its impact on education and students learning, and their satisfaction. Data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics(spearman correlation and multivariable regression)at the significance level of 0.05. Results: Findings showed that lecturers overall did not have approving attitudes toward integration (34.6%). The highest agreement was on its positive effect on quality of education (50%), though 14 lecturers (53.8%) believed the program was still a long way far from effectiveness. Only 2 respondents (7.7%) reported believed that there was enough synchronization between lecturers and the Faculty educational authorities regarding integration process. Conclusion: Based on the results, most participants considering the newness of integration believed that there was not enough synchronization between lecturers and Faculty educational authorities regarding integration process. Therefore, using some strategies to fix this problem seems necessary.
