Abstract:

Objective(s): The aim of this study was to estimate effects of hyperbaric (HB) treatment by determination of CD15s and CD11b leukocyte proinflammatory markers expression.  In addition, this study describes changes in CD77 and CD34 expression on rat endothelial cells in renal, pulmonary and cardiac tissue following exposure to hyperbaric pressure. Materials and Methods:Expression of CD11b and CD15s on leukocytes, as well as CD77 and CD34 expression on endothelial cells in cell suspensions of renal, pulmonary and cardiac tissue in rats after hyperbaric treatment and in control rats were determined by flow cytometry. Results: Hyperbaric treatment significantly increased percentage of leukocytes expressing CD15s+CD11b- (from 1.71±1.11 to 23.42±2.85, P

Over expression of Nrf2 in Umbilical Cord-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Up regulates Cytoprotective Genes, TXNRD1 and GCLC

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are ideal cells for cell and gene therapy. However, the low survival of MSCs after transplantation has limited their applications. We aimed to evaluate the expression of cytoprotective genes including NQO1, TXNRD1, HO-1, GCLC following the over expression of Nrf2 in umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UC-MSCs). Methods: 3-5 passages of UC-MSCs were cultured. ...

O-2: Testosterone and Vitamin E administration Up-Regulates Hsp70 Protein Expression in Varicocele-induced Rats; Correlation with Leydig Cells Steroidogenesis and Germinal Cells RNA Damage

Background: Varicocele (VCL) impacts the testicular tissue partly by down-regulating the antioxidant status accomplished with reducing the intra-testicular endocrine potential. It has been reported that the HSP70 families play a critical role in spermiogenesis. Therefore, current study was aimed to evaluate the protective effect of exogenous testosterone and vitamin E administration on VCL-indu...

Celecoxib Up Regulates the Expression of Drug Efflux Transporter ABCG2 in Breast Cancer Cell Lines

Elevated expression of the drug efflux transporter ABCG2 seems to correlate with multidrug resistance of cancer cells. Specific COX-2 inhibitor celecoxib has been shown to enhance the sensitivity of cancer cells to anticancer drugs. To clarify whether ABCG2 inhibition is involved in the sensitizing effect of celecoxib, we investigated whether the expression of ABCG2 in breast cancer cell lines ...
