The Relationship between Anxiety Caused by Coronary Heart Disease and Quality of Work Life in Nurses Working in Hospitals of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 2021

Abstract:

Introduction:  The quality of working life is one of the most important components of any organization and because nurses are one of the most important human resources in hospitals; The study of their quality of work life is important. On the other hand, due to the emergence of the corona disease and the importance of the anxiety of this disease on the mental health and quality of working life of people ,especially nurses.therefore this study was designed to "investigate the relationship between anxiety caused by coronary heart disease and quality of work life in nurses working in hospitals of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 2021. Method: The current research is a cross-sectional correlation study. The research environment of the hospitals of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences and the research community were the nurses working in these hospitals of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences during the outbreak of the Corona disease in 2021. Due to the corona situation, the questionnaires were designed electronically. The data were collected electronically using the CDAS 18-question Corona Anxiety Questionnaire and Richard Walton's 24-question Quality of Work Life Questionnaire.The data was analyzed by SPSS version 18 software after collection.by descriptive statistical tests to describe the data , Kolmogorov –Smirnov to determine the distribution of quantitative data, chi-square test to compare ratios , linear correlation test to check the correlation between independent and dependent variables ,and independent t-tes variables, and independent t-tes and analysis of variance.It was analyzed side by sid to compare the average score of quality of work life according to anxiety classes and other demographic variables. Results: The results showed that 184 (71.9%) of the participants were female and 216 (84.4%) were married. The mean and standard deviation of the total anxiety score in the nurses participating in the study was reported as 23.97 ± 9.84, which was in the average range, and the quality of work life score was reported as 79.06 ± 12.38, which is higher than the average. Pearson's correlation regarding the relationship between total anxiety and its dimensions with the quality of work life showed that there was an inverse and significant relationship between the physical anxiety score (p=0.041 - r=0.128) and the quality of life. Conclusion: Although the relationship between the quality of work life and anxiety caused by Corona in nurses was not significant. it is necessary for managers and health policy makers to design written programs for continuous monitoring of public health and the quality of work life of nurses and adopt appropriate strategies to improve them.
